The Nitrox Diver course is among the most popular diving courses worldwide, with an increasing number of divers recognizing the advantages of using a gas mixture with a higher oxygen content compared to the compressed air typically used in entry-level scuba training. At Green Divers Tulum, we predominantly use Nitrox for our dives, largely because of the extensive benefits it provides to divers. If you're not yet a Nitrox diver and plan to train with us in open water or overhead environments, this class can be incorporated into any of our training programs and is highly advantageous.

Diving with oxygen-enriched air decreases nitrogen absorption in the body's tissues, enabling divers to spend more time at moderate depths and shorten their decompression time. This course equips divers to use enriched air (Nitrox) with oxygen concentrations ranging from 22% to 40% by volume.
SDI offers certification for this course, which requires at least one day to complete and is open to all certified open water divers.

The course covers the following topics:
The meaning and advantages of Nitrox
The physiological considerations of using Nitrox
The maths and physics involved in Nitrox diving
The Concept of Equivalent Air Depth
Utilization of Nitrox diving tables
Labelling cylinders for Nitrox use
Analysis of gas
Choosing the optimal Nitrox mixture for scheduled dives
Utilizing tables and charts for planning Air and Nitrox dives
